Spring Time knows Christmas is On our Doorstep

And The Garden Is The Place To Be.

I have been keeping the water up to a Friend's garden while she is in Africa.

Planting seeds in my garden for some 'Christmas Colour'.

And sketching ideas for Christmas Cards

Hope you have had a productive week so far.

Oh NO! I should  have spelt it  'Solemnly', I blame computers for my loss of spelling skills.

Travelling Apps.

In Trains, planes & Automobiles......

It is not always sensible or easy to pull out my favourite arty supplies when travelling and I need to be scribbling or making something. I found the next best thing is to grab the Ipad and have a play with 'Art Set' or similar. A simple app with which I can experiment with my handmade works to see how they might look if I apply this or that. For example, my girl below has been softened and I like the look so I might apply a medium to the actual canvas and soften the overall effect. Then I can try some hair styles in Art Set and see if I like them.

If I don't like the hair I just delete and try something new.

I still have the original photo and canvas or works on paper so it doesn't matter if I stuff up as I have not ruined or lost anything.

Sister Nasty repeats. One of her is more than enough. But fun to experiment.

An app altered image of a photo from my garden. The textures are amazing and I will try and paint them on canvas.

If you have an Ipad do experiment, it's so much fun and is a great tool for seeing your creations in a new way. Not to mention a perfect 'no spill, no bump' way to play while travelling.

Memories of Paris

In the Spring Time...
So much to see, so much to do and so very much to eat. And only seven days in which to fulfil all the Parisian dreams. So I am planning for another trip next year. So excited, I can hardly wait.

Let's 'Face' It...

We all love drawing faces..............

And I for one cannot help myself, when seated in front of a boring TV program, armed with Moleskine and Biro, but doodle faces. Dozens of faces. Now I know they are not perfect in any way, but I love to make them and the results often make me smile.

Maybe they might make you smile too.

Inspired by my new book, 'Brave Intuitive Painting' by Flora Bowley.

Good Things Come in Small Parcels..........

............And Beautiful Artworks are being made on teeny, tiny bits of paper.

I belong to a small, newly formed group of five creative women who love nothing more than getting together around a table to experiment, dabble in and play with mixed media yumminess and sharing our books and ideas. Of course we also enjoy talking, eating cake and sipping coffee or tea.
Last time we got together, which was actually our first time, we had a great time playing with JenXO's 'Gelli Plate' making gorgeous prints, we shared the loveliness inside our sketchbooks and journals, all oohing and ahhing at the sumptuous pages and we carved the most amazing little rubber stamps.  Delighted with our carvings we decided to make ATC's to swap at our next 'Play Day'.
Yesterday was our second play day and we swapped our ATC's pictured below.
Our member Lynne lives in Queensland so we will mail her our cards and she will mail hers to us.

Jenny R

This and the ones below are mine; silly me thought Atc's were to be made all different.
My carved stamps are the teapot and cup. To keep in with the theme I added a
T bag to each little card.

Our swapping done we than went on to making printing rollers to use as backgrounds in our journals and art works.  We cut shapes from sticky foam sheets and stuck them to cardboard rolls, covered them in lots of paint colours and made prints, the results were stunning. I have not taken pics of mine yet and I didn't get photos of the others prints, Grrr!

ShushSmash "Ripoff"

In Love With Typo
Recipe for
'SSSSmash Ripoff '
Ingredients: 1: Typo Make & Create Book. ( I got mine from DFO, Melb for same price)
1: Guillotine
1: Hole punch
A mixture of all the papers, ephemera, ('all the might come in useful' bits),
and stuff you have been saving forever, & don't try to tell me you haven't
accumulated such items.
Remember to include some beautiful watercolour paper, strong brown paper,
heavy scrap booking papers, large and small envelopes and even tissue.
Whatever floats your boat and gets the juices flowing. The combination of
pages is endless and your choices make the journal more personal.
Method: Pull the spirals apart and empty pages out of the book.
Keep some to put back in, as many as you like. Using a paper guillotine
cut all your new pages to size. I have some smaller and most the same size as
the original paper. Use one original paper as a template to work out where to punch the holes. Reassemble any way you wish.

Rub: Copious amounts of 'Deep Heat' or similar on wrists after hole punching!!!
At first I put mine back together with too many pages and had to redo it.

Apologies for unattractive photos, good lighting not to be found, too rushed to set up a nice background and my camera is reaching retirement age.

The printed square pages also came from Typo, they are sold as a pad.

My next project will be to 'Smash' Typo's Bolted Journal It is only 5 bucks!

All ready to fill with wonderful drawings, paintings, ideas, memories and stories.
